HOW WE WORK
In our many years of photographing and filming weddings, we’ve learned that the photos people choose to hang on walls and treasure in albums, the videos that will be reflected on with laughter and tears for years to come capture not just a visual of memory or moment in time but a feeling - a real multi-dimensional snapshot of the past. Therefore at weddings we for the most part become documentarians, blending in to allow for real presence and vulnerability while staying low-key and making as little of an impact on your day as possible - unless it’s time to guide portraits.
Knowing when and how to guide our clients is a learned skill, both through years of experience and getting to know our client’s individual personalities. Lots of movement, conversation, interaction and encouraged spontaneity make for the most romantic and memorable images.
ANALOG FILM & SUPER 8
Analog film is our favourite medium to work with - which is why it is included in our pricing. In our 6+ years of experience with film we have learned how to get the most out of each roll - each wedding is approached with a fresh perspective: Elena picks out rolls of film before as well as camera combinations depending on the day, lighting, and the vibe of the couple and their event. We shoot 35mm and 120mm with a variety of Kodak Portra professional film stocks, and experiment time to time for funky vibrant events with new films and repurposed cinema films.
Super 8 videography and weddings are a match made in heaven. We shoot with a vintage 70’s super 8mm camera by Minolta, creating nostalgic, completely candid highlight trailers that are beautifully surreal and romantic. Super 8 comes in cartridges that can produce 2-5 minutes of footage - making each shot extremely thoughtful and pivotal in telling the story of your day. Our typical inclusion is one cartridge of super 8, but for film lovers like us we are always open to discussing more extensive super 8 coverage.
